If the boat is registered in Texas, I hope you got titles. The county clerk/tag office handles trailer and TPWD (TX Parks & Wildlife Dept) does boats and outboards.

What paperwork did you get from the seller?

Its really simple if you have the title for boat and and the title for the motor, if its an I/O, then just a title for the boat itself. You need bill of sale. You also need a form from Texas Parks and Wildlife filled out with serial numbers, boat ID number etc. it needs to be signed by the original owner which needs to match whats on the title you got from the sale. If you have all that its really simple and can be done at you local TPWD office. The trailer registration is done at your local tax assesor collector. Its really cheap like less than $50 plus 6.5 % tax for the purchase price of the boat. I just did mine last friday and it came out to $100.50.

Call TWPD and ask them. If you have titles signed by the owner, that should be all you need with the bills of sale.

Same with your county.
