The measurements from the coupler won't show a bent axle, only if the trailer will follow directly behind.
Mark the sides of the tires and hold a board across each one and and measure the distance between the boards in front and back. roll the trailer until the board is the same distance above the ground on the other side and measure again. That should give you a good idea if the axle is running ttue front and back. The camber may be more difficult to measure. but I think you could do that with a blomb bob off the ends.
