Hey all,

Yesterday I was driving home from the lake, when I heard a thump hit my truck when I was stopping. Car next to me told me they saw my tire come off and hit my truck haha. I was extremely lucky to 1. Be only 2 miles from home and 2. No longer on the expressway. 3. Not hurt or damage anyone elses car. I was able to limp home on the 3 remaining tires.

I was surprised since I didn't notice it sounding strange or driving strange but obviously it was not in a good shape! This boat/trailer is new to me, only bought it 2 weeks ago. But it was all well greased and taken care of previously.

The spindle treads seem beat up, what is the best option to fix? Should I remove the axle and take it to a shop? Should I just buy a new axle all together? They are the offset drop spindles I think, which I'm not sure how easy it is to find those kind of axles.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!!

You should be able to find a spindle for it. That one is toasted but you might throw a set of bearings on it and get it to a shop, but it WILL keep chucking tires..

looks like new axle time

with any new to you boat, DO NOT ASSUME the prior owner did anything regarding maintenance.

start at the beginning and do all the maintenance on the boat, motor, drive and trailer.

I've gone through the boat, pulled the outdrive, replaced the gimbal bearing and ujoint, as well as the bellows, greased everything up, changed the oils, but I didn't take the same precautions on the trailer.

I'm thinking I'm just gonna jack the trailer up and take the axle off. I think that will be the safest, best way.

Welcome aboard and welcome to trailer fun.

You do mean take the axle off and tale it to a shop? Just clarifying.

It looks like new seals are needed seeing the spattered grease on the back-side pic. Go for all 4.
