Hi, Ron here, I am looking for recomendations for a timing light. 1999 Merc 40hp 3 cly. Book says to remove plugs. Why not do it with the engine running? Can ya tell I'm new to boating? Thanks
You can set it while plugs out / Safety wise and easy to set. But you should check it when it is started. To make sure you don't go over max advance. It can kill it if timing is to high.... Tim
