As the weather has been so good the last week in scotland(sunny and 70f) I have dusted the boat down ,awoken the outboards from slumber and am going out on Loch Lomond tomorrow (Mon) to do some trout and pike fishing .
Have any of you guys started the new season yet?

Re: Time for Fishing?

Its in the 20's and 30's here now too. It was in the 70's and 80's for a couple of days, which melted most of the snow and melted the ice. I can fish no matter what the temperature is, even during the Fall walleye run it can be in the 20's and snowin.

Last weekend I went Pike fishin with Calicokid. The temps were in the low to mid 40's, but it was VERY VERY windy............and rainy. Not the most ideal weather, but it was fun.

If we can get a week of stable/warm weather I will probably have enough time to get my boat ready and get out for some spring Crappies and Bluegills.

Re: Time for Fishing?

The weather is wonderful in the UK at the moment, I live right in the middle of the country (Birmingham) which means most of my fishing is done on the river. Sods law! weather like this and the rivers have just gone into closed season 15th March-15th June. The fly fishing season opened on April 1st and I can still fish on man made lakes so tomorrow I will spend most of the day at a local fishery and then move to a small trout stream in the evening. Fingers crossed I will have a couple of nice brown trout for supper.

I'd love to get to our Lakes and go fishing but the roads are clogged solid with tourists

Maybe during the week when they all go home.................

Hi Just back from the Loch ,Had a great time ,a little damp but hey its Scotland its always damp! A few outboard gremlins to sort out as she either ran lumpy and slow or for short periods very fast! but its great to be back in the water and with my new job only working mon-thurs and 13 weeks holiday a year (I work in an autistic specialist school) The old boat will be out more regularly

I've been out the last two weekends, the boat ran great, though not too much fish catching happened. Things had been pretty warm in my neck of the woods for awhile, but now it's typical Northwest weather again.... :(

Well, here in Sault Ste Marie, there's still a foot of ice in the lake. I'd go out anyway, but you go thru too many shear pins trying to cut thru the water.
