Just more of what less than honest governments do to balance budgets. Yes we are not raising taxes we are raising the cost of just about everything else, we will get our money out of you one way, or another. The local tax burden here is just out of control, at one time Eastern Long Island wanted to form its own county, I think the fantasy for many people here is to not be part of NY State as unrealistic as that might seem. The perception is we pay far more in terms of taxes than what we get back. The reason why I am suspicious of any push to alternative energy plans is what happened to us with Shoreham. Tons of money spent, all of the sudden, politicians "realize" that it is "impossible" to evacuate Long Island in the event of a nuclear accident despite the fact that the Long Island Expressway was called the world's longest parking lot more than 10 years before Shoreham, and the plan to add a third bridge across LI Sound was defeated by (environmentalists) something that is regretted to this day. So when I hear the goverment pushing electric cars and renewables I am naturally suspicious. Just like not "realizing" you can't evacuate Long Island, surely they can "not realize" renewables will not meet the need of "thousands and thousands of EV vehicles", or, "not realizing the environmental problem created by recycling thousands and thousands of batteries". I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so.
