tilt up not working

hey guys i am in the middle of taking all the bolts off of the lower unit to change the impeller. i went to go lift the motor and bit and my up tilt wont work, down and trailer are working fine. any ideas? where are the wires on the engine.

DOWN and TRAILER work, UP doesn't. Most likely the trim limit switch or its wiring has failed. Very common. The fact that TRAILER works says the solenoid and trim motor are fine, the only thing left is the limit switch and its wiring. The limit switch is on the port side of the gimbal ring, on the hinge pin itself.

And why are you removing only the lower unit? Is all the maintenance done inside the bellows area?

because i am changing the impeller..... no need to touch the upper drive and bellows. everything checked out clear with that. i just removed the impeller and i shouldnt have. the impeller is brand new inside. oh well i will change it anyway. i will look for the limit switch and check the wiring.

trim limit and trim sender are on the transom, outside the boat.

forget everything i am a idiot. i turned the key on to see if the trim was low enough for me to use the up button and it wasnt sorry i am a moron. sorry for wasting everyones time

Shucks....and I was just about to tell you that you are already at your upper trim limit before I read your last post!
