Tilt/Trim

I stored my 97 Dorel 170BR for the winter. I put the engine down. I went to get things ready for the summer season and my tilt/trim will not lift up the engine. The tilt/trim button makes a noise but nothing happens. How can I manually raise the engine? The boat motor is a 1996 Force 120.

it might just be a weak battery or corroded connection. You're going to need to charge the battery and check connections anyway. May as well try that first.

Thanks very much. That did the trick. The tilt/trim works now. Question: It has a red oil in the cylinder. What kind do I use? How full should the cylinder be?<br /><br />Once again, thank you very much!!!

that's automatic transmission fluid. avoid anything that has detergents. detergents will shorten the lifespan of your system.<br /><br />It should be full to the bottom of plug. never let water enter your system. There are steel ball bearings in the pump and you'll be fubar'd if they rust. If you're messing with it, then now might be a good time to drain it and put in new fluid.
