Re: tilt trim switch

I put a rocker switch by the steering wheel on the helm and removed it from the control completely. Many advantages to this but the hookup is a bit tricky. I had a heck of a time before figuring it out and now it works great. I learned some lessons too.

1. Be sure to buy an actual rocker switch that springs back to center - bumps and trailering can cause it to switch up and down on its own.
2. Ground (common) the switch in the front, power it at the stern with whichever accessory terminal block you want to power it with.
3. If you install a maintenance switch at the stern, be sure to install it in parallel.
4. Only two control wires follow the gunwale to the helm.

I'll give you more info if you decide this is an option.

if you google obsolete part number and the word supersede like "0123456 supersede" you will often come up with a new part that replaced that one making it obsolete. It doesn't always mean the thing isn't made anymore. Or check ebay.
