Re: tilt/trim problem

just undo one of the hydraulic lines inside the boat and you should be able to raise the outdrive manually (it's heavy...). oil should spit out as you're raising it. then tie it up well to the ski tow. drive slow.. good luck.

Re: tilt/trim problem

I just got done replacing the trim hyd oil on my mercruiser 140 with the alpha 1 unit. Best thing I did was buy a Seloc repair manual. If you got milky oil you got contminated fluid. If the oil is milky/foamy in appearance you got air in the system. Unbolt the hydraulic rams, and tie the lower unit up. As far as repair work, if ya want the experiance study up the repair manual. If its water contamination you need figure out how the water got in there in the first place. You will have pull the pump reservoir and all the hyd lines, clean/blow them out, work out all the contaminated oil in the rams, reassemble and pump clean oil thru the entire system. The idea is to get all the contamination out and run a clean system.
