I have carried out a repair on the trim ram and am ready to reassemble the tilt/trim hydraulic system. It consists of two rams and a pump/reservoir (apprx 100mm dia extenally bolted to rear of engine mounting), I believe the entire assembly is an after market addition to the engine. Question is what is the correct procedure for refilling with hydraulic fluid and flushing / bleeding the system. Many thanks for previous assistance and thanks again in advance for any suggestions.

gibletts,

I am assuming that your engine is an early to mid seventies vintage. If so, that sounds like like the factory optional TNT system.

Bleed as with any other. Fill with the engine all the way up and locked, rams extended.

You will have to keep cycling/filling. Be careful, let the motor cool after a few cycles.

Always fill with the engine up, rams extended.
