My 1988 (90 hp) Johnson is not cooperating. The tilt/trim quit operating while running. After I turned the ignition off it won't re-start. I don't even get a click when attempting to start and the the tilt is stuck in the upward position. I do get a faint click when I press the tilt switch. Any suggestions?

sounds like lose of voltage from battery, ignition switch - to motor and trim motor..... check for loose connections and bad wires. volt meter is useful to check for battery voltage at starter solenoid and trim motor....

You blew the main fuse. Its 20 amp and is near the starter.

Round fuse holder pull apart. may be in back of motor.

Tilt motors will blow these once in awhile. when under full power. Or just as they hit full up or full down.

Good luck!
