Tilt pin

Can someone tell me the diameter of the tilt pin on a 1965 Mercury 3.9?? My motor didn't come with one and $30 for a new one is Crazy, I only Gave $100 for the motor...

Measure the hole dia. and get a SS bolt.

Agree with what WildeOne said - a bolt will do just fine. Another option is to look at a "bone yard" of an outboard dealer or shop. You might luck out and find one on a discarded motor.

I'd buy some stainless rod, the threads on a bolt could mess up the holes.

You may find just the right size bolt with threads only on one end that will work.If it's just A little long it is ok. Use A lock nut on it.

Well I measured the holes and it appears that they are roughly .280 So I guess I will just go buy a used pin....
