Tilt Motor locked in Down Position - Help!

I'm a Newbie (I guess - can't figure this one out!)... this is an AWESOME site!

I have a Merc Black Max 150 and the tilt motor needs to be replaced. I have checked to be sure the tilt motor is getting power (thanks to an earlier question and help from Chris1956)... Here's the problem... My 150 is locked in the "down" position and I can't determine how to disengage the tilt motor so I can raise the foot for transport, or to get to the tilt motor so I can have it repaired.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you try loosening the manual release valve on the pump?

No, I didn't realize there was a manual release valve... just confirmed newbie now... I'll take a look... my problem is that, with the motor in the down position, there's not much room to do anything.
