I live in Fl.
I'm headed to the shed and look for the tilt ram in 10 min.
Yesterday was crazy busy and I just couldn't get into the shed
It looks like 10 hoarders have moved their stuff in there.

Hahaha I wish I had a shed like that. Just full of parts and random things.

Good deal, figured Jerry would have one. When reassembled, use only SAE30 non detergent motor oil....don't use red hydraulic fluid or ATF or some such. This should fix the leaky tilt cylinder...but like I said earlier, an external leak usually is not the cause of a bleed down, unless it is just gushing out. When you are finished bleeding the system, raise the engine all the way up and see if it stays up.....if it stays up you are golden. If not, you got more work to do....

Sent you an e-mail.
I usually don't charge for parts, just $ for shipping
and ask you donate to a local animal shelter.
The shelters can always use the $$

I appreciate it so much I was beginning to think that I would have to replace the whole thing right now. Instead of getting a bit more life out of her.

Like I said: it was a working cylinder when
removed.
Lets just hope it still works.
Remember after it's all back together, GREASE the
rod and the seal where the rod goes through.
99% DON'T lube the T@T and that causes failure.
Last year I replaced the seals on 6 Yamahas and 3
Mercury's .
They all looked like new and not one had seen any
grease on the rods.
I use a spray White Lithium Grease on the rams
and motor oil on the steering.
One more: the hydraulic steering under the steering
wheel needs lube on the seal that the rod goes
through. The ones with Tilt wheel steering especially
needs lube. Replaced 2 last year. OR don't use it in
the tilted position.

I replaced it and it did not work sadly as the gasket on the top was worse than the one I had and spewed even faster out the top. I guess its just that age thing at this point with these. However, I did replace the Rings on the original one both the cap and the Piston and its slowed the descent down considerably but after about 20 min it has hit bottom again.

Last Question.. What Gear oil do I use for the lower?
I am going to be replacing the impeller as well as the Water pump is not pushing water out currently. Engine however Is running like a top. Starts up first time and compression is all good.

You said you might have a cylinder?

I do.....the one in the pic....the cylinder itself is no good, but the head assembly with shaft and piston is good, was not leaking around the shaft at all. It should screw into your cylinder no problem. Got on here kinda late tonight, will check back tomorrow.

This is where it is leaking from. I dont belive there is a dust cover on it. Looks to be a metal top where the cylinder wrench goes in.
The blue Prestolite didn't have a grease shield/ wiper that's seen in your
picture.

"Last Question.. What Gear oil do I use for the lower?" My manual says use E.P. 90 gear lube.....should be the same for your Force 125....Quicksilver makes both a 80w90 (for 75HP and less) and a straight 90 for larger outboards. Have used both with no problems.

Buy what ever you can afford???
The Yamaha and Mercury oils provide better
protection and won't breakdown as fast with
water intrusion.
Amzoil is good but expensive.
Myself I've used Walmart gear oil, that's in MY
motors. I use the good stuff for my customers.
The most important thing: CHECK THE OIL OFTEN!!!!!
