tilt assist lever...

hi all, i have just bought my first boat and already into problems.i am about to replace the lever on my 1994 evinrude 40 as it has snapped,but i also need to get the small crappy plastic connector that joins the cable to lever as this is broke as well. does anyone know where i can get one,i dont know what its called or have a part number for it? is there an alternative to the plastic one? many thanx, joe

that is going to be a dealer part. BRP diagrams site is down, so can't see if it list part #s.

thanx for your info guys,hadnt heard of the brp diagrams site till now,but as you say its down just now. thats the exact lever im talking about,hopefully the site be back up again soon. thanx once again ;-))

Hey Scott,
The plastic piece to which you are referring is called a "shell" by BRP. The number is 334153. Buy more than one they have a tendancy to fail at the wrong times.

thanx tabbott you are a star :) i owe you a beer. think i will order about 10,should keep me going for a while! if only they werent made of plastic.cant have everything tho. many thanks again.

I seem to have the same exact issue with my evinrude 40 - same picture as above... Mine is stuck in the down position... I can move the actuator with the broken half of the 'shell' still attached to it both up or down but it will not release...
system was working before the shell snapped so I don't have reason to think the cylinder is frozen...
Any tips on what I'll need to release the lower pin if need be would be appreciated and a rec on where to buy the shell (334153)
