tilt assist issue...

I have a 1994 Evinrude 48 spl that has the tilt assist. I haven't been able to go out in almost 2 weeks due to weather, so I pulled the boat out from the carport to run the motor on the muffs for a few. After I was done and ready to raise motor again, the motor won't budge. After some research on the wonderful world wide web and inspecting of my motor, I have found that the little plastic end on the cable that connects to the lever has broken. My question is, can the little plastic piece be bought and replaced on the existing cable, or will I need to buy a whole new cable?

Check on shop.evinrude.com and look up your mtr. Has good parts info.

I did check on there...but they didn't have anything on the tilt assist assembly when I put in all my outboard info.

Yeah, the system was great in it's day but now it sucks.
