Hi all. I have a 1985 Johnson 60hp outboard. I wanted to launch my boat for the first time this year yesterday. Connected the battery and the motor was turning over but got nothing from the TNT, no noise or anything. I checked the wiring and everything seems fine. The switch on the shifter seems good too. Got it in 2020 and have never had any issues, it's in great shape. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

any blown fuses ?? if no noises then relays are not clicking up or down so no battery 12v is reaching the relays and power comes of the solenoid fused wire ...

check all connections and proper grounding

apply bat grd to blue- green to the tilt motor ... if ok backtrack RELAYS MUST Click to apply power to the T&T motor and relays must receive +12v from the solenoid post

find something that clicks...(or not) to energize the motor

T&T switches typically do not feed high current power to the motor so relays or solenoid takes over.. power must reach the switches then the relay (s) then power is transfered to the motor

whip out the VOM..!

Do you have relays, like the square plastic ones found under the hood of your car? Or do you have solenoids that have wires held on with nuts? If you have solenoids you should have a red wire, a black wire and either blue or green depending on whether it's the up solenoid or the down solenoid (sky is blue, grass is green! Blue to raise motor, green to lower motor) and there should also be a blue with white stripe or green with white stripe.
The red wire should have 12 volts. The wire with the white stripe is the signal wire that comes from the switch. The black wire is ground. The blue or green wire goes to the tilt/trim motor. If you have solenoids, that's all you need to know to test with a volt meter. Check for voltage at red wire first. If you don't have voltage there, nothing will work.

Some of those use 1 solenoid for UP.-----Switch is able to handle current for DOWN as it is much lower !

Thanks. I'm a newbie though and don't know where I'd find the relays or solenoids. I tried googling it and couldn't find any info.

did you find the fuse ...and check it. Suggest you acquire a service manual at this point.
