tilt and trim noise

I have a 2002 yamaha the tilt motor is making a loud noise .motor goes up and down easy does sound like a bad motor and if it is how easy sofa job is it

Are you sure it is not low on fluid and the noise you hear is air in fluid?

Have not checked for air but I will check that out thanks.

I had a similar noise problem with my suzuki tilt n trim, it was low on hydraulic fluid it even stayed stuck in the up position. I had to manualy lower it with the bleed screw on the side of the T&T motor to get it to function again. After i filled it, the noise went away and it no longer stayed stuck in the raised position. Check fluid, good luck!
