My boats tilt and trim motor won't work. It sounds like a clicking noise is coming from the solenoid. Which one should I check first?

Re: tilt and trim motor

You have a single solenoid correct?
With a single solenoid system, does it still click when going down? If so, it may be the motor.

Try hooking the motor directly to the battery and see if it works. Black wire on the negative terminal of the battery, green or blue (not both at the same time) on the positive terminal of the battery.

Green = down, Blue = up.

Re: tilt and trim motor

If it's click when you hit the down button, then you have a motor problem. There is no down solenoid, only up. The only thing that would click is the motor.
You have checked all the connections and made sure the battery is charged up didn't you?

Here is the wiring diagram for the single solenoid trim system.
