Tiller handle conversion

I have a 2004 Yamaha t50tlr fourstroke I want to convert to a tiller handle. I've been told this isn't possible since it is the high thrust "commercial" model, does anyone know is this true?

Mercury had them "in the day" (1970-80) in my opinion; it was dangerous to have that much power to sit in the back of the boat.

The answer depends on whether or not your model is set up to connect the handle, throttle, and wiring.

And, Mercury now makes tiller outboards up to 150 hp, not that it matters.
