Tie down caliper mounting bracket

2021 I had a shop install actuator, calipers etc on my trailer to get through inspection. 2024 I am doing maintenance on the trailer brakes as the starboard side caliper locked up on me. What I found during my break down of the brakes was a bit disturbing that the mechanic now fired from the shop would go ahead and install this slider pin. The slider pin looked as if it had a large piece of solder halfway down the 7/16-20 thread. I did not get a picture of it before I ran a die down on it but it still useless after.
I purchase another slider pin from eastern ($7.00 and $9.00 shipping wtf to that) and when I try to install the caliper slider pin on the bottom to the bracket, it grips in but it never tightens down. So I can not torque it down. I am not sure if I can run a tap through it to fix the threads or if I should purchase another bracket. Most places sell the bracket with a caliper.

Sounds like the plate is stripped.

Yes the plate is striped. I removed it yesterday and tried to tap it with 7/16-20 but it just wiggles as the slider pin screws in.

Actually I went there and they wanted like $28.00 to ship it and the part was about $32 and only 2 lbs. that was crazy.
I orded the slider pin from easternmarine and it was $7.00 and $9.00 to ship. that was crazy too only place that had it.

Take the plate to a welding shop and they can weld up the hole, then re-tap

HeliCoils. Usually stronger than the original threads.
$10 in parts and a 1/2 hour of your time.

Giving the thickness of the plate and the fact that it has lost some of the metal you think this will still work? Most I see using these could go up a bolt size but I have a slider pin that must fit the caliper and the thread.

LOL. We use to have on here in Damascus behind the Fire Station but they closed down. I had them weld some hanger for a fuel tank for a Grady I had. Fairly inexpensive to my surprise but over 8 years ago.

I saw that website too, and the phone # is disconnected and the business address is some run down house in Houston Tx.
I buy from Eastern Marine, Etrailer, and Trailer Parts Depot as well as directly from Load Rite

Yeah I just checked my order status and it says its still processing since the 29th. Looks like it may not come. My advise to all that order from websites they are not familiar with, make sure you use a credit card and not debt card. I will update on this item no issues except its still processing.

I just order from trailer parts depot. When i looked at the website last week it was $30 to ship to my city now its $13
