Thanks for your help guys. I am new to this, and have never used a choke that was a toggle switch.

The reason it wasn't choking, the switch was not hooked up. The spring had fallen off. That is now fixed.

Now that that is fixed, it seems to start up pretty well! Forward, neutral, reverse all work well. Time to change gear lube, impeller, and put on a fresh coat of paint.

Hey guys! I have had the motor working perfect the last 2 summers and have really enjoyed it. Starts right up and runs pretty darn good....but now I have an issue.

The 2 times I have had it out this year after winter, I cannot get past half speed when throttle is full on. Full on is like 35mpg the last 2 summers. The boat wont jump on plane and just acts like its heavy/full of water(its not). The RPMs do not go as high either but are fairly high.

-I thought it was bad gas and old plugs, but I replaced those and it is not.
-Lower unit oil has been changed annually and is perfectly clear.
-Boat runs and sounded perfect both times on muffs, but once in the water I have half speed.
-Reverse still works perfect.
-I have had the pump the fuel line some this year as well to keep pressure, but not always. Short on getting gas?
-I also had fuel leaking down the side of the motor tonight when I looked. Fished yesterday.

Thoughts? It didnt stop me from getting my limit of walleye, but I like to go fast!

Some fuel dripping off the clamp. This hose goes up into the bottom of the fuel filter

This line comes out of the bottom of the carb(left) and goes down to the right, then it is pinched, and goes back up and to the right.

I believe that engine has a thermal-electric choke. The choke solenoid keeps the choke fully closed while cranking and a springed linkage holds it partially closed until the engine warms up. When engine reaches 145 degrees, a thermal switch opens and current is cut off from solenoid. There is an electric override and a 3 position manual slide control

Thank you - is this regarding post #24 ?

That unit pictured in post # 27 is the fuel pump.----The filter is the screen that should be in the cap with the screw.

Ok that makes sense and matches what I was looking up with new fuel pumps. Any advice on the issue at hand? Screen was clear.

Repeat your questions here.

UPDATE:

I believe the issue is it is not getting gas. The bulb keeps losing pressure and I keep having to pump it and turn the motor over multiple times to get it to stay running. It will fire and die....fire and die....fire fire and die...etc while I keep pumping the bulb.
New tank line or new fuel pump needed? All of the above?

It still goes very slow at full throttle and takes a while to get started, when it never was an issue before. Fished Sunday.
