Anyone willing to share their thoughts/experiences/suggestions for changing the fuel filler hose on a Thundercraft Magnum 220 (1988) or similar boat? I had a survey done and it is one of the last open issues I want to correct. However, the fuel filler hose runs underneath the aft-cabin flooring, where the fuel tank is located (looks like I'd have remove the aft-cabin floor).

Re: Thundercraft 220 Fule Filler Line

I've never been in a 220 but in my 340 the 200 gal tank is under the aft cabin bed however the very end of the tank where the filler, vent, engine supply lines and sender are attached is enclosed within a plywood/fibreglass box in the emgine compartment that you can remove the top off and get access to all these parts. I have to believe that you should have access to this in your boat as well, I can't believe you would have to rip up the floor to replace the sender or even check the hose clamps on the filler/vent hose or the connection for the supply line to the engine?

ps...where abouts in Georgina are you? I live in Georgina as well in the Keswick area.

Re: Thundercraft 220 Fule Filler Line

Hey Boatin' Bob,

I'm just north of Old Homestead. Our boat is at Crates in what was once affectionately known as "Thundercraft Alley"." Crates service looked at the line last year and indicated the hose is buried under the aft-cabin floor... but that doesn't mean that is the case.

I found an access port, in the aft-cabin floor, for the fuel sender... I'll keep hunting to see if there is access to the filler hose... I'll take a closer look at the engine fire wall and see if the construction is similar to your 340.

Thanks for the lead!!!!

Hey...were getting closer all the time. I'm just off Old Homestead midway between Metro and the Queensway on road call Highfield. One of my neighbors Keith Johnson keeps his boat down at Crates. I'm an old Thundercraft die hard fan. Bought a 1989 290 from crates in 1992 and then in 1995 we moved up to the 340 and still love it. Let me know if I can be any help?

Hehe... we are just around the corner form each-other. I'm on the Queensway N, just north of Old Homestead!

Thanks for the offer.... I'll keep you posted on what I find along the fire wall!

Re: Thundercraft 220 Fule Filler Line

hi... i also have a 1988 220, in the aft cabin there is a access lid for the sending unit on the fuel tank, the floor is in 3 sections and the centre section can also be lifted out but must be cut near the front as it goes under the step in one piece...also when you remove this section of floor be sure to check the drain hose, which comes from the drain hole on the first step down to the v berth, (the hose on my boat was only 12'' long and was simply draining into the fuel tank area, instead of all the way back to the engine compartment)..as it was the water was trapped under the floor, because there is no drain hole in the bulkhead between the fuel tank and engine compartment.....the water was under the floor in the cabin area, and rotted out the floor at the base of the steps....hope this is of use to you....martin
