Thunderbolt V Ignition Modules

We have recently aquired a Bayliner with a 5.7 Alpha serial number 0K023257.

Folling all the steps in the flow chart, we are to the point where we have now power at the white/red wire.

The ignition module on the boat is an 807264-3, which upgrades to an 807264A01.

We have access to an 806957-4, for a 5.7 Mag. It looks to also cross to the 807264A01 for replacement.

Wold I be able to use the Mag ignition module in place of the one that's installed. Would there being a timing curve issue?

The engine does not have a knock sensor module, don't know if that matters, but may be worth mentioning.

Thanks. I was hoping it would work as a more permanent repair, but was concerned about possibly having too much timing. Saying I have access was a mis-statement. It's a used unit, that we were looking to buy, but then I seen that its not the same, then while doing research and seeing that they cross to the same updated part, really muddied things up.

Ayuh,.... Dollar for dollar, the Delco Voyager is a Great replacement for a T-Bolt ignition gone bad,....

So, from what Ive read, this looks like a viable option. Question I have now is, I can find info everywhere about installing one, but can not find the module and harness. Just an entire kit with a distributor and all. Would you happen to have a link to where to purchase one?

I didn't realize what at first that the delco voyager was a whole new set up, thought maybe it was just the mudule. That should be all I need, is just the ignition module. Does anyone have a link to the timing curves for the different modules?

Ayuh,... My point is, the Merc parts are stupidly Expensive,.....
You can drop in the Voyager for less money than fixin' the T-Bolt system,....

I believe there's timin' curves listed in the manuals, but I don't remember which ones,...

I'll take a look. I don't remember seeing one in the manual I downloaded, but I also wasnt looking for it.

Looks like the timing curves for the TB 5 are not published, but it also has a variable timing curve.

Which makes me wonder again, how close the Mag a d non Mag would be.

Also, what the most updated part map would be. Especially seeing as it uses 1 part for several different arrangements.

If both modules are replaced by the same new part number I'd say it would work. Check your total advance at approx 4 k rpms should be below 32 degrees with 10 degrees initial. With out the knock sensor it won't add as much advance
