Hello, I have a 1999 Custom Weld Cobra inboard jet that I am thinking about installing a washdown pump in. I was wondering if anyone has done one of these boats before and could shed some light on the best location to install the thru the hull fitting and the type of fitting to use? The boat is aluminum.

Thanks

Just wondering how to just Tap into the jet pump ?

Does this mean you have to have your motor running when doing a wash down ?

OP.. its not hard to do if you have the plumbing routes. I would think you have to find a place to have a recessed part of your transom available for the mountings.

Through hull fittings are easy .. its the routing of the hoses that you need to determine first. After that I think you should have a clear idea of what you need to do. Seal the fittings and make sure nothing will fail.

I was wondering the same thing. There is a hose that runs from the pump thru the transom to the engine. It has a tee cut into it for me to run fresh water thru the engine when it's in the driveway and to drain the cap in the winter. I was wondering if I could tap that hose as a feed with a shut off and a pump for my wash down kit. As far as a thru the hull fitting what material should I use plastic, bronze, stanless? What is a good sealant below the water line?

My Stratos has a streamlined looking brass or bronze pickup that mounts through the hull and has slits on the forward facing side. It's pretty slick looking actually. It is used to supply water to the wash down port as well as operating as my live well aerator. It also picks up water when running at speed to fill the livewell, etc...

As mentioned, there is only one to use. 5200. It's amazing stuff.
