I have a 1997 evinrude 115 H.P. and my controls are not responding well in low rpms. The cable seems to not respond to the handle and I usually end up have the engine respond to high or low to what I do with the controls on low rpm. Engine runs fine so its either a cable or linkage adjustment on the engine. Any suggestions or is the cable just worn out?

Re: throttle response-

Sounds like at binding cable to me, probably need to replace it, you may check near the engine for a lubrication point, if there is one then move the throttle lever to pull the linkage closest to the cable housing and then lube and work it a little to see what happens, my thought is replace the cable.

try adjusting the little adjustment wheel under the motor hood just a bit see if this helps tighten and try ect. if it doesnt a new cable might be in order
