Unsure of where else to post this and since I have a 175 Mariner I thought I would start here and if I'm in the wrong place maybe monitor can move it if necessary.

Quick and short, my father just gave me his boat 19 foot Astro with a 175 Mariner. I took it out for the day and after about half the day (2-3 hours during that day) on the engine the, I was taking the throttle from wide open and putting it back in into neutral and it was really stiff and hard to get into neutral. I played with it a few times going from foward to reverse and would not loosen up.

When I got back in I checked the lines for a twist or something but I didn't see anything and really not sure what it could be. Seems a little odd to me that it would happen all of a sudden. When I got back home (with the engine off) I was testing it and it still feels stiff. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Note, new to boating and all watercrafts so sorry if I'm way off course or doing something completly wrong. Thanks! :D
