throttle control

Does anyone have a schematic for a johnson throttle control. It is a 89 60 hp johnson. Or could you tell me how to fix my problem, the throttle cable keeps coming out of the housing. The forward/reverse cable stays in place but not the throttle cable.

Can you post a photo of your throttle connection? Sounds like a piece is missing.

Look here for the diagram of your motor. Select Johnson at the top and click on go. Then select year, then hp, model, then linkage or crankcase to find the part. Probably a retainer missing as CATransplant states.
