I need some help. I have a 75hp merc ob. was coming into dock slow and shifted into N and the engine stalled. When I tried to start again I just heard a quiet buzzing noise. I think thats the safety feature that won't allow the boat to start while in gear. Throttle moves freely and all the way back to the engine on the lower throttle arm (kinda like this greased slide track) but makes a clicking noise as it seems to not slide like it should. seems like the throttle connector is not "catching" something and not allowing the gear to shift. It MOVING, but not working. I am not sure how or why this sliding on the track engages the motor. I don't see how its connected to the engine or how sliding this back and forth would put it in gear. Since I doing know how it works its hard for me to figure out whats wrong. Can anyone help? I can send pics if you like to help explain.
