I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 4.8L V8 and a 5 speed. I get pretty good gas mileage but nothing to brag about. What is going to hurt is when I tow my 2100lb old trihull runabout up to the lake! ouch.... Gas prices at the marina are going to be off the charts too!

Butch A.

My 1998 Lincoln Town Car regularly gets 30 to 35 mpg with a 4.6 V8 SOHC. Of course that is at a steady 40 mph. At 60 mph I am getting 22 mpg. I used to drive 70 to 80 mph going to work and would get an average 20 mpg. The last few weeks I'm driving 60. Takes the same amount of time do to do the 40 mile drive due to the occassional stop/go backups. Lincoln claims it will get 25 mpg highway, and I have got that but it was at a steady 55 with no stop/go.

On the back roads I'm just cruising at 40 mph.

I'm starting to feel like a little old man.

Ah. That'd be why then...my girlfriend has a 1.8 petrol VW golf GL(I think they're called a Rabbit in the US) without the turbo or the autobox and she's gettin close to 39mpg out of that.

I have a 99 Saturn SL2, It ain't the greatest car but with power everything, sunroof, traction control and built like a tube frame race car I get 31-35 MPG I love it. However when I tow the boat or anything else it's the BURBAN. 5.7 Liters of pure gas guzzeler.. with a 43 gallon tank at $2.25-2.35 a gallon you do the math!
