Gotta be something in your fuel, like the resin from an equally old fiberglass fuel tank, or maybe something being "added" by a sneaky terrorist. (neighbor kids)

Another thought is that modern fuel when left setting, especially without added fuel stabilizer, forms varnishes. For this reason, most of the fuel I run through my XR4 is stabilized. If I do not plan to run the boat within a week or 2, I go to the trouble of draining the carbs or running the fuel out. That way, the next time it's run, the floats are hanging on the stops, the valves are wide open, and fresh fuel floods through for a few seconds cleaning the little bit of debris on the needle valves off.

Are you replacing the seats as well as the needles?

My name isn't "dude", it's "sir".

The needles should move freely in the seat. If you replaced the seat, perhaps you over torqued them or used a poor tool and caused them to get distorted.

Should not be tight, should be free as a bird so it can float just like the one in your dunny(toilet).same concept.Make sure you got the correct needles for your carb#.Do they all stick/tight???
