Wow, BrianFD, it doesn't take a genius to see that PW2 is slamming people for criticizing those who are criticizing the USA.

It seems that the liberal mindset is that the right to criticize is reserved for them and them only. As long as conservatives are being criticized, it's okay, but when conservatives fire back, it is not okay.

I find it funny as hell that people are rejecting the liberal agenda and liberal ideas, and liberals just don't know what to think of it. Liberals are used to being able to spew a lot of feces out on the airwaves and have everyone gobble it up. Liberals are used to being able to silence conservatives, but now that those days are gone, you're all acting like spoiled children with severe psychoses. This is the new reality. Get used to being called down when you step over the line.

Some day the liberals will have their way and be able to stamp out nearly every vestige of decency and justice, but that day will be a short one. Enjoy it. The price will be steep.

-dd-

...and now I see where BrianFD's confusion arises.

My assertion is that PW2 thinks no one should criticize those who are slamming the USA from abroad. I say that if they want to slam this country, fine---that's their right, but when they get roasted for it, they have brought it on themselves and it is the right of all of us who disagree to let 'em have it.

NOW do you get it??

Blah, blah, blah.

So, when the socialist fruitcakes of Europe (and I highly doubt they represent the majority opinions of Europe---just like here in the USA) whine, we should alter our foreign policies to suit them?

It must suck to be so wrong!

:D

-dd-

What was originally being criticised was the notion that these folks dared to question their government and it's policies. That is their absolute right under the constitution.

Argue with their logic, their point of view, or the substance of their claim all you want--that is your absolute right--but do not argue with their right to voice their opinion.

To theriver:

my email address: jmwalsh@30below.com

With the last two statements, I can agree. What I am railing against is this:

"For all those that want to export freedom and democracy to the corners of the earth, why are you so uncomfortable practising it at home?"

What I infer from this rhetorical question is that if we criticize these people who are bashing America, we are not "practising it" (democracy). That is clearly what PW2 was insinuating, and that is patently ridiculous.

Every deck has a pair of jokers...

-dd-

What I specifically object to is your habit of criticising "the people" rather than their ideas.

And while we should not necessarily change our views because of what Europe thinks, we ought to at least listen what they say and try to understand why they are saying it.
A friend that is consistently bullied wll not be a friend for long.

This administration, from day one, has consistantly thumbed their noses at Europe, and then complain that the Europeans are being uncooperative.

It is the problem of trying to lead from an idealogical point of view, as opposed to a pragmatic one. Failed policies must be someone's elses fault to an idealogue if the premise for the policy cannot be challenged

"What I specifically object to is your habit of criticising "the people" rather than their ideas."

Not worth a response.

"And while we should not necessarily change our views because of what Europe thinks, we ought to at least listen what they say and try to understand why they are saying it.
A friend that is consistently bullied wll not be a friend for long."

We understand, all right. They are marxists. Nuff said.

"This administration, from day one, has consistantly thumbed their noses at Europe, and then complain that the Europeans are being uncooperative."

The previous administration allowed the Europeans to undermine the spirit in which we were working through the U-freekin'-N to keep a lid on the Middle East. The Europeans were allowed to think they are the leaders of the Free World, and the non-action that resulted from such a state has led to a situation where we don't have a whole lot of choice when it comes to our own survival and the survival of freedom. The Europeans are not relevant...they relegated themselves to that status. SCREW the Europeans. They have chosen interests that are harmful to ours.

"It is the problem of trying to lead from an idealogical point of view, as opposed to a pragmatic one. Failed policies must be someone's elses fault to an idealogue if the premise for the policy cannot be challenged"

A lot if gibberish, if you ask me...but one thing I can pick out of this is your advocacy of pragmatism over ideology (which to me means principle).

Last time I looked, the UK was a European nation, which as you know, is fighting along side us in Iraq.

Also, might I suggest you learn more about the UN before completely running it down. The world is a better place for it. There is a reason it was formed 1945. Maybe Bush has forgotten, or never knew.

the UN

I am fully aware of the UK's geographical association with Europe.

For your information, I know plenty about the U-freekin'-N---which is why I am ardent supporter of the movement to expel the UN from American soil and for the USA to withdraw from it.

SCREW the UN, and SCREW Europe as long as they insist on policies which are tantamount to our voluntarily hamstringing ourselves for their benefit.

I'm done with this thread. Kicking you lightweight liberals amd marxists around has finally gotten boring.

Til next time! :D

-dd-
