If your thinking Hells canyon then be sure you have everty thing A plus ready to go first. Big river Big water in the canyon but worth the trip. You can also go to Brownlee resevoior behind the dam at ox-bow.
I've only had the boat out on Lake Lowell so far, but wouldn't mind getting up to Hell's Canyon. If you know the area, I'm just a short hop from the Flying J exit in Caldwell.

I didn't catch if you have power tilt trim, but assuming you don't. Have you tried adjusting the hgt or tilt of the motor.

Maybe you could post a pick showing the relation of the lower unit to the bottom of the boat.

As seen in the pic below, the Cav plate is even with the bottom of the keel. Its not the greatest pic, but its what I've got with me at work.

I've also tried adjusting to different tilt positions. It is bolted through the transom as low as possible, so height adjustments are not likely. This boat seems to like full-tilt to lift the bow out of the water, but it makes it rough riding in the chop. It will porpoise in this position too, if there is any kind of wave action at all. On glass, its fine with no chine walk. I'm thinking of taking it to a mechanic to verify the condition of the O/B, but by all of my measures (certified diesel mechanic), it appears to be functioning correctly. I don't understand why others with this same hull are getting 40mph with smaller motors.
