I have the Class IV hitch (10,000 lbs / 1,000 lbs tongue wt), but need a WDH to get to 14,000 lbs.

Since braking is infrequent vs. driving, I figure the battery on the trailer will charge during non-braking and supply any additional current needed during braking. I think the Dexter Actuator wants a 40-amp supply.
What is your tongue weight?

Also FYI. Wdh's need specific types to work with surge brakes. Normal ones bind
He is putting in an EOH system....hence the title of the thread.

If he doesn't, an E4 Equalizer will work with surge brakes.

I pulled the boat out for the season today. My local ramp is under re-construction, so I went up to the next harbor/ramp to haul-out. It is a fairly steep ramp, but 4WD Lo was no problem.

I'm going to be on the lookout for a 2017-> F-250 Gasser w/ 4.30 differential, as they are rated for 15,000 lbs.

As it stands now, I don't dare go over 30 mph with the F-150, because of braking (or lack thereof). When the trailer comes out of the water, the trailer discs are quite wet and they take a bit of running to dry off. . . . practically all the way home. EoH should help regardless of the truck.

My current rig (when loaded) lowers the rear of the truck 3" with about 1,200-1,300 lbs of tongue weight. Not terrible, but I have a set of booster shocks on order. I need to get the ball/hitch about 4" higher when loaded, as the tongue area bottomed out on the way up the ramp, because the ramp has a sharp transition to the flat surface.

So, I think I will do the EoH for the benefit of the trailer braking and do a wait'n see on a truck upgrade.

Your hitch rating is 500# deadweight...I would call that overdoing your hitch by a LOT.
