I hate the sound it makes when you set up an ironing board.

Scared the ____ out of one of our dogs, and she never forgot it. thereafter, if you went to set up the ironing board, she would head in the other direction :)

I think they meant that they are on a 2 lane highway that happens to have side street access, and people pull onto the 2 lane highway from the side street... Some of the 2 lanes like that around me have speed limits of 55 - 65..
That is annoying.. LOL

OK I get it now. We have similar roads that you have to turn 90 degrees to enter or cross to the other side. Max speed is 80KPH or 48 MPH and guys and gals are going 75 MPH. Death traps. Round abouts are getting popular on these roads here. Annoying in their own right.

Ten years ago, Maryland installed the first roundabout in the State in my home town as an experiment.

Best thing to ever happen to the intersection for traffic flow. The only thing annoying about them are the “outsiders” who insist on slowing or stopping at yield signs in a wide open circle.

Well miracles still happen.Just after typing my latest rant guess what shows up at the door?My brand new helm seat for the ss160.9 times out of 10 if you don't receive a parcel by 4 pm your not getting it that day.Chatted with the guy and told him I figured I was buggered because I normally get mine by 8.30 till 10 am.Told me the regular driver was on holidays and he had to do his route and the other route too!The guys are great, the contractor they work for is well can I say cheap.Maybe I can go fishing tomorrow now ,I wasn't going anywhere without my new seat as the old one is a back killer.

What really annoys me are people that ask you the same question over and over and over again. By the way what is the proper name for those ear muffs that feed water to a marine engine in the driveway?

It appears the only civilization on earth that knows how to use a round a bout are the Brits. There have been round a bouts in the city I grew up in for the last 50 years and drivers still don't know how to use them. Imagine the tax dollars saved if round abouts are used instead of over passes, clover leafs and ramps on North American highways. Traffic is as bad in London and Rome as NY or LA, you never see over passes and clover leafs there. I was stuck on a round aboot in Boston for a week one day.

I ran into a roundabout in Victoria B.C.Though I was confused at first it became easy quickly and the flow of traffic was excellent.

Roundabouts are called traffic circles or rotaries in the Boston area.I am pushing 70 and they were around before I was born. Piece of cake to enter and leave them if you know the rules. Some even have 2 lanes. If you choose the correct lane you can get out real easy.

Roundabout (rotaries) are an aggressive driver's fantasy. They get really tricky when the traffic volume increases, like at rush hours . . . sort of becomes a game of 'chicken'. :)

The problem is that the ones entering the rotary are supposed to yield to those already in it. BUT, most ignore that rule.

I am used to the roundabouts in Ghana ... put 5 lanes of vehicles in a 2 lane roundabout and let them play bumper cars ... survival of the fittest!

The local police tried to enforce that “rule” here in the beginning. Posted police 2-3 days a month for the first six months or so.

I stopped one day and asked an officer to define “yield” as it related to a circle. Gave the example of car A entering at 0 degrees and exiting at 90 degrees. Do you yield to car B entering at 180 and exiting at 270 or do you proceed to exit at 90 degrees unhindered by the presence of car B?

No clear answer on that one. After a little back and forth I was advised to use my discretion.

Guessing we (locals) have figured it out on our own. Have not seen an officer watching traffic in a number of years

You think that is annoying when you are driving a car I remember back fifty-five years ago when I was driving 18 wheelers. Leave big black streaks of rubber on the pavement and after about two miles I would be only about one gear short of full speed and the car would make a left turn with no turn signal and the routine started all over again.

We have a Provincial HWY here in southern Ont. Highway #6. It is an 80K or 48MPH highway that connect 2 major 400 series highways. It is the deadliest highway in the province because it is exactly as you describe. Entry or crossing is 90 degrees. Cars travel the highway at 110KPH or more nearly bumper to bumper. Plus it is the way to get to several small lakes and parks. What do they do to make it safer? They widen it by a lane now there are 6 lanes of traffic going 70 MPH to cross it. An O.P.P. officer recently pulled onto it to stop a speeder at the south portion near us and got T boned by a tractor trailer doing 60 MPH in a 48. She was 26 and seriously hurt. Lucky she wasn't killed. It is known as "The Death Run." They have done nothing to change it since it was built after WW2. A good candidate for round abouts.

So trying to get on these type of highways is more than annoying it is unsafe.

The mistake my buddy who had never used one was to get in the inside lane, stay on the outside lane and you are good to go, get on the inside lane and you might run out of gas.
