I'll start, you guys can add if you wish.......<br /><br />I dont understand why we have that "scale of pain" at the doctor and hospital that goes from 1-10.<br /><br />What is that really telling the doctor considering how subjective pain is. It is impossible to put a number to pain, just like sadness or happiness. It is statistically impossible. I know people who would be screaming 10 if they had a scratch, and people who say 6 with a smashed up hand.........I dont get it.

Don't know if I have I have a high threshhold of pain, but I don't get novacaine at the dentist office. He's always amazed at what he does without me being numbed. Just routine fillings.<br /><br />I'd rather put up with a few seconds of pain then have my mouth all numbed up for 6 hours after I leave the office.

heycods....I had a kidney stoe moving into my bladder (the most painful part) during a job interview.....I could barely talk......worst part is I'm 21 so I sure there are more to come.<br /><br /><br />Tyme....like you I never get novacain, last two fillings were fun

Been emune to freezing all my life , used to tell dentist , doctor, parents when I was a kid wouldnt belive me , Hurt like He11 every time tooth pulled or stiches put in . Never was froze till last year at new dentist (young fellow ) told him about freezing and he said" Oh your one of those eh! shot the goop in me , Never felt a dang thing sure felt weird though,

Ditto Ron. I Won't even go NEAR the dentist office sober. <br /><br />The worst pain I've had so far was the aftermath of a hernia operation.<br /><br /><br />spots

I got wrapped in my jaw at work with a piece of machinery and broke a bunch of teeth. I went to the dentist once a week for most of the summer. I got so tired of the effects of Novocaine that I started refusing it. When he would hit a nerve with the drill it was almost unbearable. I'd say 9 on the happy face scale. I've also hit 9 many times with my RA.
