Re: They Took my Lures away

Howdy Ross J
Health wise I'm great but My Boat Motor won't be ready until next week. A bud of mine took me down to the Ohio River last week to do some Blue Cat fishing. Being a Musky kinda guy I didn't think Much about it but boy was I wrong. First off he pulls out a bucket of a concoction that smelled like something you would step on in the pasture. Next he rolls this stuff up in a ball about the size of a Baseball and puts it on a rig that looked like a Grapplin Hook and Heaves it out. Between listening to Willie Nelson and catching some huge Monsters(some over 40lbs)I had a ball. Of Course he told me that when he is Really fishin for the big ones he usually pulls his truck down and uses his come a long to pull them in. Not to change the subject but you folks made the papers here in the States. Seems like some Millionare bought up some land that is sacred to you. Being a History buff I'm curious to know the backgound . Maybe post us what this was all about. Other than fishing in the deep Blue do you fish in lets say some calmer waters and what do you fish for? Lure wise I'm still looking for that special Attractant.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?thesection=news&thesubsection=&storyID=234 8850

I wonder if this would help!
I've been here and it's not the biggest drawcard about. For a spot of land there's little evidence of its importance although the books all point to the fact it's the first land Captain Cook ever saw when he discovered New Zealand. It was spotted by a young man on the Endeavour named, Nick. Hence the name "Young Nicks Head".

I do fish in calmer waters, in the Kaipara Harbour I like to fly fish for mullet. I use a home made fly covered in yellow chineel and find I catch more than my mates do netting!
Ross

P.S. - I forgot to tell you of my favorite lure. Gold! caught me a wee lass 25 years ago that just keeps getting better with age so I guess you can't go past that. The lure was in the shape of a ring, nothing to do with the "Lord of the Rings".

Thanks Ross J
I guess you could say the Trophy you have is mounted on a Pedestal and not on the wall. Some catches you just have to keep . It tends to make the world a bit more pleasant to live in

Re: They Took my Lures away

Hi there Gonfishn, I was just going over some of the posts and had neglected to read this one. Glad to hear your doing better. (by the way, Hi Ross) My sister is a nurse, she has been know to be mean like a bear. I don't think it was her, but it sounds like it could have been. That nurse was probably forgetful and put your lures in her drivers seat in her car. If not I would put a few there if I were you, just for that nasty trick of taking your lures.

I have been through your town many of times, I even had to change the generator on my VW there once. It was while we was on our way to the Bengals playoffs in 81. Thanks to your NAPA dealer, we changed it in their parking lot and made the game in plenty of time.

Have you heard of Racine Ohio? That is where I grew up as a River Rat. Lots of fun and memories. In your town there once was a drive in, was there ever a race track where the drive in is or was? I haven't been through the town since the bypass was put in. But anyway, my dad use to race there and put on thrill shows for the Charity News. (at least that is what I was told) I wasn't around yet, but my brother was.

Thanks and glad to have you back.... :D
