I use my 2.3Litre OMC sterndrive mostly in fresh water. Three times a year I use it in salt water. Despite thorough flushing, the engine thermostat seizes open after salt water use. Is there a stainless thermostat or some other solution available for this problem?

On an I/O, they were made for auto,and then adapted to marine (engines) in most cases.<br />You might ask the nearest dealer if they make a marine version for your engine.<br />Expect to pay abt 3 times as much tho.<br />You might be able to convert you cooling system to closed circuit if you have bilge room,but that would be very expensive.<br />But it would also make your cooling system as reliable as an auto cooling system.<br /><br /><br />------------------<br />Time to change my tagline
