I just wanted to see how many men would click on this thread to see if this kind of thing would take off around here.

I'll have you know I have a large collection of knitting and crocheting needles (they were my grandmothers, anyone need any?)

Sure they are Art. :p

Hey even Pete Rose does needlepoint. It takes a big man to admit to it Keith, especially in this high testosterone forum.

When my Dad sawed off all his fingers with the table saw, he crocheted for therapy. I still have some of his stuff.

Honestly, I'm in a very strange mood today, warped you might say. :p This thread was my failed attempt to be sarcastic about a comment from another thread.

HEY, it did get over 30 views in less than an hour. :D ;)

Carry on fellas. ;)

I passed over the title, then came back to it 2 times, and when I noticed it had the name Ladyfish below it, I instantly knew it would be something intelligent and meaningful, so opened it.
No, it's not a sport i have taken up.

Cheers
Phillip

Let me tell you about my late Dad. He rose to be the GM of a Govt Dept, bit bright up-top, good sportsman, very bloke-y sort of bloke, and he had a big knitting machine, and he use to knit every night of the week, in the lounge. Mum took the orders, he made up the patterns, he refused point blank to sew them up (girls work apparently)...it was a mini factory, but hey, we had the new fridge, washing machine, TV, Car, holidays etc etc.

Well it may not be crocheting, but some of the best people with a sewing machine or a needle were "PARA RIGGERS", god bless them.

Nothing screws up your day more when you blow out of a cell or pannel
on a / ct1 / ct2 chute..

Man was not ment to be a lawn dart!!

they come in handy when working on carburators and such. I keep my mothers in my tool box.

Re: The Zen of Crocheting

I only clicked on this because of a strip club story I have from yeeeears ago:

Sitting there enjoying the view and a particularly good looking one sits down and strikes up a conversation. Somewhere along the line I asked "so, what do you do in your spare time for fun?" (loaded question given the circumstances, I know)

She pipes up with "well, I like to knit scarves sometimes". :p

I wasn't really expecting that! LOLZ

My grandfather (Army Colonel, WW2 and Vietnam vet) did needlepoint. :D He was very ADD and there aren't too many hobbies he didn't try.

Rosie Grier used to do embroidery. When I was a kid my mom used to embroider all the time. She tried to get me to do it telling me it helped develop patience but it never took with me..
