You mean Popeye and Olive Oil.... Ohh never mind.. I have heard too that cooking with oils doesn't transfer much taste unless it is infused oil which we do on occasion. I try to match an oil for the amount of heat I am going to be using as the smoke points of each are different. Peanut oil has a high smoke point if I remember.
But, I still remember the days when Mom cooked everything in good ole fat in the deep fryer. Umm, those were the days.
