Re: The THIRD Central Florida Get-Together!
Oh, hell to the yea buddy! Bring it all!!
OK, OK... If ya really don't want me ta bring'em, just say so... But ya doesn't needs ta be so dern stern about it...
Forget them...never was a fan of Buckeyes, anyway....'cept Larry Bird...he was awesome...
Are the Buckeyes a college team? I've never liked basketball; and never got into watching any spectator sports... Especially basketball. I actually find golf on television to be more captivating than basketball. I find golf to be just about as exciting as watching grass grow, which is of course far more intriguing than watching paint dry. This being said, I used to really like watching The Celtics. I would watch Celtic games(sometimes), just to see Larry Bird and Kevin McKale redefine my opinion of the sport. It was at least as good as watching a "Harlem Globe Trotters" game. I also
REALLY loved watching "street games" at the park on 7th Avenue and West 4th Street in Manhattan. I don't know whether or not you're familiar... That park became world famous at some point during the Nineties, while I was still in the military. I don't fully recall, but I think it was because of the number of "unknowns" winning big Slam Dunk contests, and telling interviewers about their "home court".
I worked as a bike messenger in Manhattan for a couple of years. Washington Square Park was where my friends and I would typically meet up after work(I had two high school buddies who became bike messengers with me). We'd "wind down" in the park for a while, with lots of other bike messengers, and then go home to Brooklyn together. Most of the time, we'd ride. Sometimes, though, after a
really busy day, we'd take the subway home. The nearest station was West 4th and 7th. There were always "serious" basketball games going on at the park which is the last/first thing you see when going down or coming up the subway steps. These guys played so hard, it was just
AMAZING to watch. The skills these guys displayed made it incomprehensable that they were not Pros. Sometimes we'd end up courtside, watching these games until the police closed the park because thing got "out of hand". This didn't happen every night, but it was not a rare occurance.
...Anyway... I think we've highjacked your thread!!! You may have started it; but I really rolled with it, and took it to another level; so I'll take responsibility for
this one.
Anyway... (Again
) Lookin' forward to the get together at your place!!! How's
that for a recovery.
Later, Brother.
