Re: The Pot Poll

76% of people on this forum have tried it and are not addicted.

Probably 99% of those given morphine for pain relief don'y become addicted, either. I guess that means morphine is non-addictive, too! Yeah, right, try to sell that one.

Apples to oranges. Morphine is carefully controlled by skilled physicians in order to prevent addiction. On the other hand most people can smoke pot like a chimney and never get addicted.

To rephrase: Nearly all people can be addicted to morphine under the right circumstances. Most people cannot become addicted to pot no matter how hard they try.

And this is why I never added a response, because I knew this thread was going to lead to this.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Some people think they know everything!

Go back and read the other 80 posts in this thread. It is a proven fact that marijuana is not very addictive, and for the few that are addicted, it is not a hard habbit to break. I am speaking from both experience and extensive research and I'm not going to waste my time arguing with another uninformed person.

I think even Kalian would agree that addiction is a null point.

I smoke pot on a somewhat regular basis. I can say it is certainly not habit forming like cigarettes (although I don't smoke anymore). And having pot on standby is not the same as having a fridge full of beer or stocked bar. Alcohol can be habit forming. Pot is not. A few drinks after work tends to become routine in many cases. Not so with pot.

Just don't get caught and it doesn't matter whether or not it is legal. That goes with anything - Just be cautious.
The jerks who drive around with it are the ones who usually get caught. The pot head sitting at home taking bong hits, won't get arrested.
BE SAFE...

Nope Zmoz, I don't agree. I've seen people addicted to weed, and I've known people personaly who were addicted to it. The only thing I'll give on that is that it's probably harder to get addicted to it than most other drugs and it's probably easier to quit. There might not be a physical addiction,(and I'm not saying there definitly isn't one, I'm just saying I don't know if there is one) but there is definitely a mental addiction. You do build up tolerance to it, which causes you to want to smoke more and more to get the same effect. I've known people who would smoke weed like cigaretes. If they ran out of weed, their #1 priority was to get more weed, and nothing else mattered until they got it.

I know some older pot heads that would argue that with you, Zmoz...

Time and time again I hear it...
"man.. I quit.. ain't hit it in a week"... "I feel better and I ain't paranoid all the time".... :)

about a week later... "ya.. I'm lighting up again".. :(

So....I give em' a ration of $#!t about it...
answer.. "man I been trying to quit cause my kid and trying to run my business and all... " :(

^Back to top^ and continue the cycle...

Zmoz.. You seem like a smart kid... Smart enough to know that,
A). Weed is'nt good for you, and
B). Debate over legalization of the afore mentioned weed, is a lost cause...

Peace, Bro... :)

No argument, Zm, just a different opinion. BTW, addiction isn't the problem, it's what goes on when the 'heads are floatin. Do elighten us with your research on the cognitive effects of the weed, if you have any. I just love the look on their faces when I charge 'em with DWI after smokin "only" pot.

pass the bong! It'll never be legal in the USA because the MOB doesn't wont to! period. They make to much money from it to give it up to let it be "legal".

Re: The Pot Poll

Here's a story for ya'll. The other night I was on a call for what was originally thought of as domestic violence. There was yelling and banging coming from an apartment. It was late, and the neighbor called it in. We got there, listened at the door, and realized it was just some people partying. We knocked, and some twenty-somethings answered. They were nice enough, realizing that the noise they caused had disturbed the neighbor. One guy was clearly drunk, and admitted to being the one yelling and wanting to wrestle, and had fell against an appliance that was against the wall adjoining the neighbors apartment. We asked if we could come in just to make sure everyone was alright, and they said it was okay. As soon as we got in, it was clear that some pot had been being smoked. I won't go into any other specifics other than saying that the people who clearly had been smoking were pretty calm and accomodating, and the one who decided it was time to give us a whole ration of crap was the one who was drunk.

You can glean what you want from that story, but it is an example of pretty much what always happens: People who smoke pot recreationally tend to be easier to deal with than people who drink recreationally. Drinking has a massive negative affect on society and it is legal. Pot doesn't have the affect on people that drinking does, but it can cause a whole different series of issues. In the end pot should be illegal, and it would not break my heart any if alcohol became illegal as well.
