The 2008 Presidential ticket will be John McCain vs a very reluctant Hillary Clinton. She will get her socialism uncerimoniously rammed where the lite never shines.

There are no other potential Democratic candidates. Come election time Hillary's numbers will be in the dirt but out of desperation the PARTY will be forced to run her.

The Republicans are not in much better shape as far as potential candidates are concerned. Howerver, as much as I disdain John McCain, he will mop the floor with Hillary. That will be the last we will hear from her. She will sulk off into bubba land and lick her wounds.

The stake will finally have been driven.8)

This scenario, of course, discounts the possibliity of any dark horses from either party but at this point, IMNSHO, that is not likely.

I could see where you position holds merit. However I don't think it would mean the end of her presidential ambitions nor do I think she would hole up in a cave and lick her wounds.

I wish Wesley Clark would make another run at the nomination.

The Dem ticket will be Hilary with John McCain as her running mate. :)

How about Reagan/Dornan for the Rep ticket? :)

I don't think the Rebublicans will nominate her.
GWB numbers are in the dumps and to a lot of people Condi is seen as one of his minions.

I honestly don't know much about her really.

I was joking, but at this point in time I can't see any woman, Hillary or Condi as a hopeful.

Right now I lean towards Robin Williams... he doesn't want it, and that is a plus in his favor.

Frist may give it a try. Some say that's why he's retiring from the Senate.

"Dark horses" will be coming out of the woodwork in the next 18 months.

Barak Obama? Very attractive and appealing young fella. Powerful speaker.

Colin Powell? Like McCain, he is attractive to both sides and well respected internationally.

Norman Schwartskopf? Brain like a 50GHz processor.

Kay Baily Hutcherson? Barbara Bush with steel drawers.

Who else, and why?

Well Haut what's your take, or are you just being a typical Democrat with no ideas of your own?

wow carlos and Jon. prez and VP. they could nominate larry the cable guy for secretary of state and steve cobert for secretary of defense with dave chapell for director of home land security.
my money would be that they would do a better job than the current crop of bunglers.

Only a liberal would think that McCain and Powell were liked by any informed moderate or conservative.

They have shown their true colors over the last few years, and are not liked by anyone I know.

Thaaaaaaaat's exactly why the Dems laud the both of them so often Roscoe. The Dems like to call them moderates that they can live with. But they are both RINOs to the max. Unfortunately , at least McCain is all the Repubs may have to choose from. I really don't think that Powell will be in the picture

I think it has been McCain's plan all along to go after the moderate and conservative democrats. He plays the left side of the line enough that he thinks that he can pick up those dems and then who else will the repubs vote for, Hillery? Not much of a chance for that. He still has to go through the primary race and if he wins his plan may work. I don't know if he can win in the primaries though. He has strayed too far left for the republican base especially if someone else strong like Giuliani (I'd vote for him over McCain cause he is honest about who he is) is in it. I despise McCain. He has been running for president for years.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens. Giuliani is a social liberal and I don't especially like that, but I could live with it. Better him than McCain or Clinton. I don't believe McCain would be storong on defense. I don't believe the guy, he was a prisoner in Viet Nam and wants to give the terrorists all the rights of US Citizens. It drives me nuts. M.

I am hardly a liberal, Roscoe.

Only an uninformed radical conservative would think so. Informed moderates and some informed conservatives like them both.

Re: The Dems are desperate. Here's my prediction.

If the democrats don't pick up seats there is something wrong with the process. Spending like drunken sailors, fiscal responsibility has become a thing of the past. Given the reigns, I can't see a measurable improvement fiscally, or socially. Judicially I have seen a massive improvement on the supreme court while lower courts fail to have their vacancies filled. Boarders are still wide open, and the manaufacturing structure of this country is being exported in obvious lobsided trade deals.

The republicans had the captain, the wheel, and the throttle and in 6 years haven't left the breakwall. Granted the dems are throwing anchors out the back, but a strong leadership should be able to overcome the obstructions. An based on what has been the "loyal opposition" they should have run right over the top. No leadership, message, or vision for the future.

If they lose the house or the senate they have nobody to blame but themselves. And sending a message at this time wouldn't be the worst thing to ever happen. When conservatives start acting like conservatives then they will find themselves back in the driver seat. Until then, if they have gridlock, that is the next best thing to smaller government. One that can't do anything. Neither party has distinguished themselves enough to energize me to do anything beyond the minimum, vote.

I know, JB. But I just had to say it. :)

As far as other candidates, whispers in December, voices in January, declarations in February.

Man not me.They could patent a waffle iron after that guy. After watching him embrace the Cindy Shehan crusade on Chris Mathews ,he's not near the top of my list.

I'd vote for Newt if he ran.Otherwise,I'm not sure who I'd support just yet.
