Re: The craziest food you ever ate while fishing!
Many, many, many years ago before the NPS ever thought about bothering people on the Outer Banks of NC, my teenage cousins and I would get to go camping for most of the month of July each year. About every four or five days someone would bring us some fresh water, biscuits, cornbread, some of grandmas pies, and some fried chicken. The rest of the time we pretty well lived off of the land and sea. We had a great time.

When you are a young skinny teen living outdoors you get real hungry at times. (We never had to eat our dogs, or them us).We always had eating contest. Once, I won by eating 172 oysters for supper. These werent the little bitty things like you get in restaurants, but were the great big ones from the sound. Two or three would make a heck of a oyster burger. The were steamed in their shells in a campfire. We couldn't eat them raw as it was summer, and to be honest I don't know if there was a season or limit on oysters then or not.

Those were the good old days. Its been years since I have seen big oysters like we used to get back then.
