Well I got board and decided to tear into my brothers boat that he blew the motor in last year and see what I could use from it, its trashed now way past saving so i figured what the hell. Its a 1988 Bayliner with a OMC Cobra. I ripped the outdrive trim cylinders off along with the motor for it and came back to me garage. I grabbed an old plow that used to be on a four wheel and was tossed behind my in-laws barn and my extra ridding mower.

I only used stuff around my garage and a few bucks in brass pressure fittings from Lowes and the OMC Cobra plow was born! :D

I am going to have to find better line for the system but the cheap plastic 1/4 inch stuff from Lowes works for now!

A little vid of its movements along with it lifting the tractor off the ground 5 or 6 inches with me on it! I am guessing its lifting about 350-400lbs!

The things one does with too much time on their hands! I guess 3 days off work is just too much!

Thanks!

Did you use your tach while plowing snow at WOT, to see if you have the right size blade on that bad boy? ;)

Looks good.
Was trying to rig up a similar one using a Merc transom bracket and tilt ram for my atv.

The problem I ran into was that the thing was slower than frozen molasses when the temps dropped down near zero.

Still looking to try it again if my current winch ever takes a dump.

Thats great..
No grass growing under your feet.
I love projects made from time and bordem. They are usually the best.

I have seen the old actuator arms from the old big c band satellite dishes used to control plows on 4 wheeler's. Hey why not use the cylinder's from an outdrive.

Now you need some tire chans! I had that same tractor bought from Sears in the early 90's great motor, I mowed with it for 15years then traded it for a go cart for my kids, never did have a plow for it, you know your missing the guides on that blade too right, I have that same blade on my Allis Chal. tractor, just pushed snow with it last week.
Wow an OMC trim pump that you can actually get at!

Pretty cool, I will have to remember that, I am trying to figure out how to improve the plow setup on the ATV.

try to run your lines through the engine compartment so the fluid stays warm. I noticed the same thing with my first set up so I ran the hose through the engine compartment and it took care of it.

I figure they are designed to be under water all the time so they should hold up nice against the snow.

I have the guides but they need some cleaning up, they are pretty tore up from being buried behind the barn. I may just make new ones.

The pump was too big to get under the hood so I figured bolt it to the side, it gives it that extra back yard engineer feel!:D

That is WAY COOL! That's what I've been wanting to do to mine. When you go to a hard line, you can save a couple of bucks by moving the tee's out between the cylinders and run a single back to the pump.

Now you just need a few more days, a couple more cylinders, some hydraulic solenoids, a little re-working of the plow frame, and you could have a full function plow with the ability to angle left and right! :D

Your project reminds me of this guy......;)
