Well, I read a lot of threads that have July 4th as their deadlines and while I was sweating in mine in the garage I was thinking of all you guys and whether you made it or not? Lets here the tale!

Re: The 4th has come and gone...who made it?

Memorial Day was my original deadline but decided the 4th was as good a goal as any. Got it in the water on the 1st!

1977 Fiberform 18' runabout with a Volvo 4 cylinder and 280 outdrive.

Still a few blemishes on the hull to sand out but the rest is pretty much done. New stringes, transom & deck plus everything else that goes into gutting the hull and rebuilding everything.

Motor runs fine but still a few problems with old electrical connectors and a mysterious vacuum leak on the carb but does just fine otherwise.

Probably never completely done but definately on the way!

I finally got the boat finished to the point where it would have been useable for the weekend of the fourth and at the last minute motor troubles kept the boat on the trailer, so the family and I watched the fireworks from the docks this year. But that's ok I'll be ready next year! I hope!

max!

Got my project (deck/stringers/transom) done by June 30th. My deadline was the 4th. I was able to sit out on the lake on the 3rd and watch fireworks... kinda made it all worth it.

It was absolute hell getting up to that point. I got the old deck and foam removed last year, but didn't break into the transom and stringers until I began back in mid-April. Lotsa tired muscles and I can't tell you how many times I threatened to take a chainsaw and cut her up into little pieces.

Still have exterior work to do (mainly paint her, but I'll get that done in the fall). Mechanically she's completely sound and unlike last year, she gets up on plane! lol

Good for you, nothing like coasting to a deadline. Me, I like to procrastinate til the last minute then do the mad dash. See, I work better under pressure... your boat looks NICE!
