Monitor please leave on this board. I would like to hear from the people here<br /> I have to admit I have been cheating on you guys. Awhile back after breaking a trim tab one of the guys here suggested that I post a message on "Boater Ed" board looking for the tabman. He was the man to talk to. Well after the great experience with Bennett trim tab company I thought that if they hung out there it cant be all that bad. So after checking in here to see if I could help anyone with my limited knowledge or ask a question and if I had the time I would pop over there and do the same. After a short time I noticed that some of my posts were being edited. Thinking that they were sponsored by a store I could see that they didn't want competitors name listed on there site. I could live with that but then there was the time a guy with a very limited budget wrote "where is the best and cheapest place to get a master rebuild kit for a small block 350". Not wanting to step on there toes I told the guy to e-mail me and I will tell them there name. Well to make a long story short that didn't go over well at all. After a couple posts back and forth between me the poster and the monitor I thought I showed I didn't want to step on his toes I just wanted to help the guy out that I was sure couldn't afford them(Boater Ed). Then there was a post that was kind of strange from the monitor that read "Everyone here already knows about so and so, (to make a long post short I will paraphrase) you can keep your info because we don't want it here". So and so they mentioned was not the company I was talking about but I did get to e-mail the poster with the name I wanted to tell him. Then everything that was posted on that thread was deleted like I was never there. Boy that made me mad!!! I didn't go back for a while but thought I thought I would to post a question one last time. When I went to log in I couldn't. After many tries I went back to a old post to find out if I could do it that way. Come to find out they changed my screen name to just "screenname". Where did the F did the f_in go? After many tries on Yahoo and a lot of frustration and as a simi joke I typed in f_inscreenname and it worked. So to be consistent on all the boards I visit I used that name. Till now so to stay consistent I wont be going back.

It really pushes the limits here, too.<br /><br />Any sponsored site, like this one, objects to discussion of, or referrals to competition. <br /><br />I suspect that your handle and attempts to refer a poster to a competitor pushed some moderator's button. You were a newbie there and hadn't earned the trust we have in your sincerity.<br /><br />I am going to move this to NTDWB, because it isn't about boats, it is about site management.<br /><br />Glad to have you around here.

100% agreement w JB. I read it as f*c*ing screename. Whats the point? Your a good guy, why rattle the cage? You got your reaction from the other board. We're tolerant though I see no reason for you to fault them . Society is by definition a measure of compliance and conformity. The hair spikers conform with each other in their "nonconformity". That said, I like your screename, but don't fault others at their offence.

Just to clarify something. I had been a member for more then a year and one of there rules are you can not join if your under 13. I know that there is more then one person that has gone through the H-E-double hockey sticks trying to find a name that hasn't been used. Some even find the name to be funny. I don't mean to offend but I didn't want a name like "boat762657897".

I understand to a point what your saying. However; If you knew the other board a little more they will delete just for the heck of it!! Thats why I dont go their. I do not try to make problems at all only help when I think I can. I do think sometimes here things are deleted when they should not be. But its not my board or money. my thoughs only.

I'll have to go along with trent.<br />Why go to a board if you know that something will happen?<br />That's like you are just looking for problems.<br />There has been a few posts locked/edited that I think should not have been, but like trent said, it's not my board, so why argue about it.<br />If you have something constructive to add, by all means add it.<br />As far as the screename goes, it does push the envelope a little seeing how this is a site where anyone can look in and it don't take a smart person to figure the name out.<br />Just my .02 worth.

yo! i told you long long ago, i wished i had thought of that name first! i don't want to give people the wrong impression, but for many people, you want some privacy, and have to come with something that hasn't been used already, even when this place was only up to the 6000user amt...<br /><br />but i haven't seen any bad mgmt here, and i'm not trying to go against others opinions, i just think everything has been handled/censored just fine. i wish we could've edited our posts back when i first came in here and got blasted a few times. i got replies i've not seen since, and dropped out for over a month. (anyone ever had someone throw a "STFU" reply at ya?)<br /><br />if our mods advise you might should change your name, then i would probably do it though. <br /><br />i'll always remember how i lmao when i first saw it (i have actually had users request that before, on a unix system)

Ok, I thought the f-screename was unique and funny. But yes, it's very sugjestive of what the dash is...O well, not what i wanted to bring up....<br /><br />I'm more concered with the link thing. I can understansd fully why no competative sites should be linked to, but the burning question I have is, how does one know what is competative or spponsored?<br />I don't see anything overwhelmingly assualted here as far as links, and can't recall any that I posted that were deleted. What i mean is, I don't think the moderators go a-hunting for competative links,but may blast them when they run-accross them.<br />I'm just curious if it is a really big problem if a link or two slip thru, if it provides a service that may, or may not be directly sponsored. Is there a list of Sponsors in alphabetical order or something,someplace?

Do I find your screenname offensive? No. Does my father? Yes.<br /><br />It doesn't matter what the ages of the members are, some people just aren't comfortable with certain language or references. That word is one of the very few that will send you to the unemployment line where I work. It is to protect the company's image and the possible sensitivities of our customers. The same hold true here and on other forums. There is a company name at the top and the bottom of each page. They have the right to protect the environment in which the name appears, out of respect for the customers that may be offended.<br /><br />I bet I could come up with a dozen screennames for you. How about "floorwarrior"?
