Texas boat registration/titling

ok just found a boat in a property i bought 8 yrs ago as a foreclosure. does anybody know what i have to do to register it. dont have a title or anything its been in my property for maybe more than eight years. i live in Texas. it has serial number and model number.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) handles all that and they have a www. On that site are forms required to title boats and engines.....trailers are via your local county tax assessor collector like you do with your car.

If you don't have the info you need, email them and ask the questions.

They don't have a lot of offices for economy reasons, but I have done very well with their online services.

Yea just contact them. They may have you put a storage lien on it then obtain title that way. I don't have experience in TX but foreclosure stuff isn't always straight forward. I highly highly doubt this will apply to a boat, but in some states when you buy a property the sale does not apply to vehicles on the property like a car automatically. Typically you file paperwork in court for each vehicle and obtain ownership rights that way.

If you can find owner and see if they will give you a bill of sale otherwise this is going to be very difficult .
