Hi, I have a mercury 1100 110hp motor from 1967-68. It was running but wouldn't idle down so I decided to put new carb kits in. To do so it required I take off the electronic ignition. I did and when I put it all back it wouldn't run. I took it to my local mercury dealer his mechanic took a quick look and said I had hooked up the wires right so he said it must be the electronic ignition unit.
Is there a way of testing these units????
I feel it is more likely the wires as some are quite corroded much of the insulation even coming off. I don't want to purchase a new electronic unit only to find that's not it.
If any one knows anything about these motors any imput you can add would be greatly appreciated. Thanks LukeMc
